Ainaz, Joelma, and Shaijieni present at the Canadian Society of Forensic Science Conference

Following the successful continued collaboration with the Forensic Chemistry & Materials Lab, our researchers recently attended the Canadian Society of Forensice Science conference (CSFS); hosted by the Centre of Forensic Sciences.
On Thursday, Joelma delivered a talk entitled “Explainability of Machine Learning Models for Drip Pattern Analysis”, continuing Stanard’s work while away, the talk explored ethical and responsible AI in forensic science and outlined the various research directions stemming from the aforementioned cross-lab collaboration.
Next we had a poster session takeover, with Shaijieni presenting a portion of her MSc research in the poster sessions, this work, entitled: “Wipe or Swipe? How ambigous are these pattern types?” explores the two different bloodstain patterns across different substrates. And Ainaz, presenting two posters, one on robustness, titled “Analyzing and Enhancing Robustness and Reliability of Machine Learning Models in Blood Pattern Analysis”, and the other on accuracy, titled “Does Size Really Matter? The Role of Image Resolution in Machine Learning-Based Bloodstain Analysis”.
Congratulations on the excellent work and presentations, great to see how this transdisciplinary work progresses!
