Graduate student Ainaz Alavi presents in the 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition

Last week, Ainaz presented her work entitled Can We Trust the Machine? in the 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. This talk discussed the use of machine learning models in blood pattern analysis (BPA), the growing reliance upon said models, and issues of robustness and reliability for forensic investigations.
Ainaz’s work sits in the larger NFRF-funded collaboration between the Trustworthy AI Lab and the Forensic Chemistry & Materials Lab at Ontario Tech, which will apply unsupervised machine learning techniques to establish a new data-driven taxonomy for the causes of bloodstains.
… it was such a great experience! It really helped me learn how to explain my research quickly and clearly. Now I can talk about it with anyone, anytime.
Well done Ainaz for taking part! Excellent work!
