Joelma Peixoto recently presented research on Accessible Explainable Artificial Intelligence (AXAI) at the prestigious CSUN Assistive Technology Conference, which is dedicated to advancing innovations in accessibility, inclusion, and technology.

Dr. Peixoto’s presentation, titled “Exploring Accessible Explainable AI: Promising Avenues,” highlighted the critical need for AI systems to be both transparent in their decision-making process and accessible to individuals with disabilities, particularly those with sight loss, the primary audience of this research. Emphasizing the limitations of traditional visual explanations, this research advocates for innovative solutions to enhance the comprehensibility of AI-generated decisions for users with visual impairment, thereby promoting inclusion and equity in technology usage.
