A selection of photos from the event.

On Tuesday, April 14, the Trustworthy AI lab attended the MAIRI symposium that featured inspiring speakers, a poster session, a panel discussion, and opportunities to connect with a community committed to thoughtful AI research and innovation. Among the various talks, many in the lab presented their research in the poster sessions.

  • Paula presented Explainable and Trustworthy AI in Educational Management: A systematic mapping of Academic Analytics
  • Zahra presented Kantian-Utilitarian XAI: Meta-explained
  • Nathan presented Socially Reflective Systems
  • Andrew presented How is fairness measured in practice? A survey and critique of fairness analyses applied to predicted algorithms
  • Ainaz presented Does Size Really Matter? The role of image resolution in machine learning-based bloodstain analysis

Tess and Nathan also participated in the ‘Emerging Minds in AI’ panel, an interdisciplinary discussion featuring emerging researchers. They shared their perspectives on the evolving landscape of AI and highlighted some of the common themes and overlaps within their respective disciplines.

Furthermore, a huge thank you to Joelma for her role in organizing the poster competition, Paula and Talia for their help as volunteers, and, to Standard for returning as a guest judge!
