This week Zahra and Talia presented at the 50th Annual Meeting of the Society for Social Studies of Science (4S).

Both Zahra and Talia were on the TechnoPower Against TechnoPower: How STS Intervenes—and When It Gets Co-opted Panel.

Talia discussed how “Trustworthy AI” has become prevalent in discourse around AI development, raising important questions about how trust is understood, communicated, and strategically mobilized to establish legitimacy, influence AI governance, and drive adoption.

Zahra presented work entitled Sustainable AI or Sustainability Theater? Trust, Green Claims, and Technopower, this work explored how green claims can shape whether AI organizations are seen as environmentally responsible and worthy of support, thus, industry requires a shift from making trust-based claims to providing trust-based evidence.
