On April 4th, Peter gave an invited talk at the Digital Innovation in Education Conference.
In the talk, “Learning and Researching with Artificial Intelligence: Engaging Critically as Individuals and Society”, Peter discussed the trustworthiness (or otherwise) of various AI systems in a learning and teaching context, which formed the basis of reflections on and advice concerning the role of AI in modern education.
Joelma Peixoto recently presented research on Accessible Explainable Artificial Intelligence (AXAI) at the prestigious CSUN Assistive Technology Conference, which is dedicated to advancing innovations in accessibility, inclusion, and technology.
Closing out or year and building on the success of the summer AI event, Ontario Tech researchers working on a range of fundamental and applied questions related to AI gathered to share their work and engage in new discussions. Hosted in the Fireside Reading Room, we fueled our minds as well as our stomachs 🎂.
This week, Peter joined the Lancaster House `Addressing technological change, surveillance, monitoring, and AI at the bargaining table’ panel at the Toronto Labour Arbitration and Policy Conference.
In this session, the panelists discussed the impact of artificial intelligence in the work place, current AI legislation, and how the impacts of AI should be addressed through collective bargaining, among other technology focused concerns.
This week, Ainaz and Zahra presented their research at Ontario Tech’s inaugural SGPS Research Poster Showcase. This dynamic event allowed students to gain valuable experience in presenting their research, receive constructive feedback, and engage with peers, faculty, and the wider community. The Showcase served as a platform for students to demonstrate the wide scope of innovative research and academic endeavours conducted within our university.
